What is Digital Detox?

What does “digital detox” really mean?

According to Wikipedia:

“Digital detox refers to a period of time when a person voluntarily refrains from using digital devices such as smartphones or computers and social media platforms. [1][2] This form of detox has gained popularity as individuals have increased their time spent on digital devices and the internet.”

Digital detox is more than to go one period
“unplugged / off-line”

  • It’s about a better balance between your offline and online “life”.
  • The fact is that you are not available 24 hours a day for everyone, everywhere.
  • It’s about rediscovering what you like to do offline.
  • It’s also about preparing your vacation digitally.
  • It’s about taking good breaks.
  • It’s about giving technology the right context – as a tool, not something that controls our lives.

Why Digital Detox?

Our use of technology and digital tools has become uncontrollable. An adult spends more time learning online than sleeping. Our well being suffers. Our heads are no longer resting, we no longer allow boredom. In addition to mental inconvenience, we suffer physically. Working and living digitally is often the fuel of burnout, a stressor that should not be underestimated.
